Every time I say something negative I feel a kick from the Holy Spirit. The Spirit tells me to watch my words and my heart. Even though people can be crazy nut bags or a back stabbing piece of $#@!, doesn’t mean you need to call them that. Just because a situation seems hopeless, doesn’t mean you should speak death upon it. Speak life into people and situations with uplifting words. Blessings have a way of counteracting negative people and situations. Let’s uplift, love, and bless with our words. Let’s have hope! Bless, don’t curse! (Proverbs 15:1, James 3:5-12, James 4:11-12, Ephesians 4:29-32)

My mom gave me the nickname “Sassy” when I was a teenager because of my slick mouth. I am learning to allow God to step in and transform salty words and attitudes into sweet goodness.
I would love to be able to call you “Sassy,” but not for the same reasons! I feel a “vim and vigor” thing about you, it’s a vibe of sorts, feisty and fiery!
And as for those “salty words,” I even have a problem with them at times. That was James’ point in his letter…
“…but no human can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil…”
However, we had better “darn well” try to keep it in check!

Seriously, I’m teary-eyed. Your work always strikes a chord, this was a gut punch though. Something I’m struggling with as i make life adjustments in a not so eloquent way. I get that same holy spirit kick….Thank you so much for a beautiful way to remember God’s truth about using words to heal and bless, not destroy. You’re a treasure!
Amen! This is a major struggle of mine as well, that has been on my heart for a while. I love how God’s Spirit is convicting in a serious but gentle way.
